Sindh declares public holidays for Eid ul Fitr
The Sindh government has officially announced public holidays from March 31 to April 2, 2025, to celebrate Eid ul Fitr. This information comes from an official notification signed by Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah. During these days, all public and semi-government offices in the province will be closed. The federal government also confirmed these three-day holidays for Eid, reinforcing the announcement from the Sindh government. On March 30, 2025, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet to look for the Shawwal moon, marking the end of Ramadan. This meeting will include religious scholars and experts who will assess moon sighting reports from across the country. The beginning of the month of Shawwal, and thus Eid ul Fitr, is determined by the sighting of the new moon. According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission, the moon is expected to be visible on March 30. Therefore, Eid ul Fitr is likely to be celebrated on March 31, 2025. The committee will gather testimonies and make a formal announcement regarding the start of Shawwal.
