Singapore and Malaysia enhance ties with new rail link to Johor Bahru
Singapore and Malaysia are enhancing integration with the development of the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link. This rail link, under construction, is expected to boost the number of Singaporeans visiting or moving to Johor Bahru. Living costs in Johor Bahru are significantly lower than in Singapore, attracting residents like Sharon Kuok, who returned to her hometown after years in Singapore. Many Singaporeans are already visiting Johor for shopping and services. The completion of the RTS Link and the establishment of a special economic zone are anticipated to further increase the flow of people between Singapore and Johor Bahru in the coming years.
