Singapore rider fined for damaging car mirror after incident
A food delivery rider has been fined S$5,000 for damaging a car's side mirror after an angry encounter with a driver in Singapore. Koh Wen Hao, 26, pleaded guilty to trespass and mischief in court on Tuesday, March 18. The incident took place on November 16 last year. Koh was cycling on Grace Walk when a 64-year-old driver nearly hit him while merging onto the road. Koh had to quickly evade the car to avoid a crash, which made him very upset. The driver then entered Verdana Villas, a nearby housing area. Koh followed the driver and spoke to a security guard, pretending he was delivering food to get inside. Once in the car park, he found the driver's car and damaged the left side mirror by hitting it multiple times. This was all recorded on security cameras. The driver reported the incident to the police the next day, which led to Koh's arrest. The repair cost for the side mirror was about S$1,170 (US$880), which Koh has already paid. In court, Koh expressed regret for his actions, explaining that he was frustrated with reckless drivers. He acknowledged that he could have been seriously injured or killed if he hadn’t dodged the car. Koh emphasized that he would not repeat this behavior and asked the judge for leniency. He faced potential jail time or fines due to his actions but received a fine instead.
