Singaporeans vote on weather preference: cold or hot
Singapore is currently experiencing its third monsoon surge, bringing wet and cool weather before the country enters its hottest season. As temperatures might rise soon, Yahoo Singapore has launched a poll to ask: Do you prefer the cold and wet weather or the hot season? Many residents often complain about the heat, but when the rain comes, there are mixed feelings. Heavy showers can disrupt plans and make outings difficult, especially for those who cannot work from home. Singaporeans are also sensitive to cooler temperatures and often bundle up when it dips to the low 20s. The monsoon surge is expected to last until March 21. Recently, the city faced heavy thunderstorms and issued flash flood alerts in certain areas. Looking ahead, Singapore's hottest season runs from March to May, and on March 19, authorities introduced a plan to help residents cope with potential heatwaves. This plan includes access to air-conditioned spaces in community centers and sports halls. A heatwave is defined as three consecutive days with temperatures of at least 35 degrees Celsius. The country is aware of the rising temperatures, as observed in a recent climate study. It suggests that by the end of this century, Singapore could have around 351 days a year with extreme heat. With the rain providing a brief break from the heat, now seems a good time for the public to express their weather preferences. Whether you enjoy the cold and wet weather or favor the heat, your opinion matters in this ongoing conversation.
