Singapore's Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has issued a warning about four health products that contain dangerous ingredients, leading to severe side effects. One user required emergency surgery after taking one of these products. The products in question include Tong Mai 9 Gu Jiao Rou, EZ Empire Be Perfect, Re5hape hi Morning, and Re5hape bye Night. HSA advises the public not to buy or use them. A man in his 50s took Tong Mai 9 Gu Jiao Rou for eczema and developed a perforated gastric ulcer, requiring surgery. He also showed symptoms of Cushing’s syndrome, which includes a round face and easy bruising. Two women experienced negative effects from weight management products. One woman in her 30s took EZ Empire Be Perfect for 10 months and gained weight but later developed rashes and fatigue after stopping the product. HSA found this product contained dangerous substances, including a steroid. Another woman took Re5hape products, which were marketed as all-natural. However, HSA found that one contained sibutramine, a banned ingredient. These products were mislabelled with safety logos, misleading consumers. HSA has removed these products from online platforms and warned sellers to stop selling them immediately. The authority stated that stronger actions will be taken against anyone continuing to sell such adulterated products. Penalties could include jail time and hefty fines. HSA encourages consumers to buy health products only from trusted sources to avoid health risks.
