Singhu border lanes reopened, easing traffic congestion
New Delhi: All four lanes of the Singhu border have been reopened for vehicles, according to Delhi Police. This change was made on Thursday, after Punjab Police cleared the nearby Shambhu border a day earlier. A senior police officer confirmed that the concrete barriers, which had blocked traffic for years, have now been completely removed. All lanes are now operational, which should help reduce congestion in the area. Previously, only one lane was open for traffic. The Singhu border area saw significant traffic issues during the farmers' protests in 2020 and 2021. Even after the protests ended two years ago, barriers remained, turning a three-lane road into a single-lane bottleneck. This border area is important for trade and is surrounded by several factories and villages. The previous blockade had a major impact on the daily lives of local residents.
