A large sinkhole on the eastbound side of Interstate 80 in New Jersey has closed part of the highway. The New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) is conducting emergency repairs after the sinkhole encroached on the right lane. Detours are in place for drivers, directing them to Route 15 south. The westbound lanes of I-80 remain open, but delays are expected due to the closure. The sinkhole appeared on a busy travel day, following Christmas and Hanukkah. The DOT closed the highway around 7:45 AM, and repair crews are currently on site.
