Sinn Féin unveils election manifesto with housing and tax reforms as McDonald vows to stay on if party underperforms
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald launched the party's election manifesto, promising to abolish the Universal Social Charge for those earning up to €45,000, increase the minimum wage, and deliver 300,000 new homes by 2029. The party also plans to end long-term homelessness by 2030, abolish the local property tax, and introduce €10-a-day childcare. McDonald stated she would not resign if the party performs poorly in the upcoming election. Sinn Féin aims to implement a 3% solidarity tax on high incomes and establish a wealth tax commission. The party also plans to abolish stamp duty for first-time homebuyers on properties up to €450,000.
