Six Flags Great Adventure closes Kingda Ka and four other rides, plans new coaster for 2026
Six Flags Great Adventure will permanently close Kingda Ka, the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the U.S., along with four other attractions. This decision follows maintenance and engineering issues. A new "multi-record-breaking launch coaster" is set to open in 2026, although its name has not been revealed. The park is also retiring the Green Lantern, The Twister, Parachutes, and the Sky Way gondola ride. These changes are part of a $1 billion investment by Six Flags to enhance visitor experiences across its parks. The Flash: Vertical Velocity roller coaster will now open in 2025 instead of 2024.
