Six Khagaria police officers suspended for misconduct
Six police officers in Khagaria, India, were suspended on Tuesday for allegedly planting liquor bottles in a person's vehicle to extort money. The officers were from the Bahadur police outpost, under the Alouli police station. The incident occurred on March 13. A local resident, Ashutosh Kumar, reported that his SUV was stopped by officers led by Station House Officer (SHO) Ajay Kumar. The officers reportedly placed liquor bottles in his car and demanded Rs 80,000. They threatened to file false charges against him if he did not pay. Following the complaint, Khagaria Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Kumar ordered an investigation. Alouli Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjay Kumar looked into the matter. The inquiry confirmed the allegations against the officers. As a result, SHO Ajay Kumar, three constables, and two chowkidars were suspended. They have been relieved of their duties and told to report to the police lines.
