Sixty universities warned for failing to protect Jewish students
The U.S. Department of Education has warned 60 universities about potential enforcement actions for not protecting Jewish students from antisemitism. This follows ongoing investigations into incidents at schools like Yale, Harvard, and the University of Michigan. The department's actions come after a year of reported harassment of Jewish students amid pro-Palestinian protests. Several universities have faced accusations of civil rights violations for their handling of these events. In February, the department began investigations into five universities for their inadequate responses to antisemitic incidents. The new letters expand scrutiny to an additional 55 schools under monitoring for similar complaints.
