Skeletonized remains in Ohio identified as missing man
The skeletal remains of a man found in Ohio have been identified as Anthony Gulley, a Pontiac resident who went missing in 1994. Authorities confirmed that DNA testing linked the remains to Gulley, who was 24 years old when he disappeared. His death has been ruled a homicide. Gulley was reported missing the same month that George Frederick Washington, a 22-year-old suspect from Michigan, was being sought by police in Akron. Washington was suspected of multiple crimes, including two rapes and an armed robbery. Investigators believe he shot Gulley in Michigan before traveling to Ohio to dispose of the body. Washington later died in a shootout with police in 1994. The remains of Gulley were found in Canton, Ohio, in 2001 but remained unidentified for over two decades. Recent DNA analysis took nine months to complete and finally confirmed his identity. Authorities stated there is no evidence Gulley had been involved in any criminal activity before his death.
