Skier dies after tree collision at Winter Park Resort

A 20-year-old skier from Kansas died after crashing into a tree at Winter Park Resort. The accident happened on Tuesday around 10:52 a.m. on an intermediate to advanced trail called Lupin. Ski patrol arrived quickly after receiving reports of the crash. Other skiers nearby performed CPR until help arrived. The skier, who has not been named, was taken to Denver Health Winter Park Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The Grand County Coroner's Office will share the victim's name and the cause of death in the coming days.
