SL25 initiative invites applications for sustainable solutions
Applications are now open for the SL25 initiative, which seeks financially viable solutions that benefit both the environment and society. This program, organized by Singapore’s Stewardship Asia Centre and other partners, celebrates companies that blend purpose with profit. In its fourth year, SL25 emphasizes the importance of stewardship leadership. This concept focuses on creating a brighter future for stakeholders, society, and the planet. It strives to find ways for businesses to grow while also benefiting employees, shareholders, and communities. This year, SL25 received a record 139 applications from 122 organizations in 25 countries. The projects submitted spanned 15 industries and had positive impacts in 12 countries, including Australia, China, India, and Singapore. Among the applicants, 39% were large corporations, and 61% were small and medium-sized enterprises or social enterprises. The selected projects address urgent issues in environmental sustainability and community support. For instance, BlueAcres, a microfarm in Singapore, has developed an autism-friendly job model. This approach helps to fill labor gaps in farming while providing valuable skills for individuals with autism. Additionally, in the Philippines, San Miguel Aerocity Inc. received recognition for its Biodiversity Offset Program, aimed at preserving critical habitats affected by a new airport project.
