San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has completed a cleanup of the Biñan River in Laguna, removing nearly 88,000 tons of silt and waste. The project, part of the Better Rivers PH initiative, finished on February 28. The cleanup focused on a 2.3-kilometer stretch of the river, primarily clearing debris from the mouth of the river that was obstructing water flow. This effort aims to improve water quality and reduce flooding. Since launching the initiative, SMC has removed over 1.24 million tons of waste from various waterways, including the Tullahan and Pasig Rivers. The program began in August 2024 and has covered 157.29 kilometers of rivers.
