SOA University becomes Odisha's highest-ranked educational institution
Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak has played a significant role in transforming education in Odisha over the past thirty years. His vision was to improve local educational facilities, reducing the need for students to migrate to other cities for higher studies. He started his journey as a bright student, excelling in his studies. Prof. Nayak earned his degree in Electrical Engineering and later pursued advanced studies in Computer Science. He began his teaching career at a technical college and became a respected professor early on. In 1996, he established the Institute of Technical Education and Research, now known as Siksha 'O' Anusandhan (SOA). Under his guidance, SOA grew to include various fields, such as management, medical sciences, and pharmacy. The university gained "Deemed to be University" status in 2007 and has continued to expand its programs. SOA has achieved high rankings in India, including being the 14th overall and 21st in medical sciences according to the NIRF Rankings 2024. It also received global recognition in the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education Rankings. Prof. Nayak emphasizes research and innovation, leading SOA to operate numerous research centers with significant publication and patent activity. The university's healthcare institution, the Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM Hospital, is a leading medical facility in Odisha, particularly noted for its response during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout his career, Prof. Nayak has mentored many Ph.D. and postgraduate students. His leadership at SOA continues to make a profound impact on education and healthcare in the region.
