In Jaipur, a group of 40 villages held a large meeting on Tuesday to announce a social boycott against the families of three men accused of murdering a student. The victim, Hansraj Meena, was killed after a dispute over Holi colours. The boycott was declared in Ralawas village, where community members decided to cut all ties with the accused and their families. The gathering took place with nearly 1,000 attendees and lasted for eight hours. It was decided that anyone who breaks the boycott would also face consequences. Hansraj, 25, died after being attacked in a library on March 12. He had resisted local youths trying to smear him with colours. During the meeting, witnesses provided statements about the attack. The three accused men—Ashok Meena, Jeetram alias Bablu, and Kaluram Meena—are believed to have dragged Hansraj into the library and violently assaulted him. Reports state that they beat him with belts and kicked him, and one of them is accused of strangling him. After the attack, Hansraj was taken to a government hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. His family expressed their grief by protesting on a nearby highway. Police have arrested one of the accused, Jeetram, while the other two remain at large. Officials confirmed that they are working to apprehend them.
