Sony limits PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition preorders in Japan to active gamers

Sony has introduced restrictions for preorders of the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition in Japan. Customers must have a Japanese PSN account and at least 30 hours of gameplay on PS4 or PS5 between February 2014 and September 2024. This move aims to limit scalpers, who have been reselling the console at inflated prices in other regions. The special edition console, priced at $999.99, sold out quickly after preorders began on September 26. While Japanese gamers appreciate the measures, some believe more could have been done. Preorders will open at other retailers on October 10, with the console launching on November 21.
