Sooraj Barjatya doubted Salman Khan's hero potential initially
Sooraj Barjatya shared his early impressions of Salman Khan during their first meeting. Sooraj directed Salman in the 1989 film "Maine Pyar Kiya," which marked both of their debuts in their respective fields. Initially, Sooraj was hesitant about Salman as he did not seem like a typical hero. He described him as "such a short guy" who left a weak first impression. However, Sooraj noted that everything changed when Salman appeared on camera. He mentioned, "That is the power of camera presence." Initially, Salman came to the meeting intending to reject the film. But after some discussion, they decided to move forward together. There were challenges during the filming process. Sooraj explained that Salman struggled with his voice and dance moves. Despite these difficulties, when Sooraj placed him with a guitar, he recognized Salman's potential. "His face, his style, his romance... everything was on point," Sooraj said. Another challenge was that Salman was also featured in another film at the time, "Biwi Ho To Aisi," in a supporting role. For six months, Salman suggested other actors for Sooraj's film instead of wanting the lead role for himself. Sooraj appreciated Salman's dedication to the film and his supportive nature even now.
