South Carolina basketball player Ashlyn Watkins had charges of first-degree assault and battery and kidnapping dismissed after completing a pre-trial intervention program. The program is designed for first-time offenders and requires community service and counseling. Watkins was arrested on August 31 following an incident at a student housing center. She was suspended from team activities and did not participate in the Gamecocks' recent events, including a visit to the White House. The Gamecocks, who won the national championship last season, are currently ranked No. 1 and are set to play No. 9 North Carolina State on Sunday. Watkins is expected to play a key role if she returns this season.
