South Chennai to face six-day water supply disruption

Piped water supply in parts of South Chennai will be disrupted for six days starting March 21, 2025. This is due to maintenance work at the Nemmeli desalination plant. During this time, the plant will be closed to improve its production capacity. The affected areas include Tiruvanmiyur, Kottivakkam, Perungudi, Palavakkam, Vettuvankeni, and several others. These districts fall under Zones 13, 14, and 15. Residents in these areas will experience water supply only every other day from March 21 to March 26. Chennai Metrowater has advised residents to store water in advance. They can also book water tankers online through the dial-for-water service. Despite the disruptions, street water supply will continue during the maintenance period.
