South Fayette reaches state finals after defeating Peters Township

The South Fayette girls' basketball team is heading to the state finals after a strong win against Peters Township. They won the PIAA Class 5A semifinal game 50-36, reversing their earlier defeat in the WPIAL finals. Kailah Wright led South Fayette with 14 points, while Ryan Oldaker contributed 13 points. In the earlier matchup, Peters Township had won by four points. However, this time, South Fayette pulled ahead with a solid defense and maintained a comfortable lead after halftime. For Peters Township, Natalie Wetzel and Taylor McCullough each scored nine points. With this victory, South Fayette, which has a record of 28 wins and 2 losses, will face Archbishop Wood in the state finals. Archbishop Wood is a top team from Philadelphia and has won four state titles in a row. They also defeated South Fayette in last year's finals. The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Giant Center in Hershey.
