South Korea reports Russia supplies air defense missiles to North Korea for troop support
South Korea has reported that Russia supplied air defense missile systems to North Korea in exchange for North Korean troops sent to support Russia's war in Ukraine. Over 10,000 North Korean troops were deployed to Russia in October. The South Korean national security adviser stated that Russia provided missiles and equipment to enhance North Korea's air defense. While specific missile types were not disclosed, experts suggest long-range surface-to-air missiles and radar systems may have been included. North Korea's need for improved air defense has increased following accusations against South Korea for dropping propaganda leaflets. Russia has also reportedly offered economic assistance and military technologies to North Korea, including support for its space surveillance efforts.
