South Yorkshire and Cleveland have highest burglary rates
A new map shows burglary hotspots in England and Wales, revealing that South Yorkshire and Cleveland have the highest rates, with 7.6 burglaries per 1,000 people. In contrast, Devon and Cornwall report only 2.1 burglaries per 1,000. Residential burglaries are particularly high in South Yorkshire, with 5.8 per 1,000 people. Overall, burglary rates across England and Wales have decreased by 4% to 260,728 offences, significantly lower than in 2003. London has the most burglaries, totaling 55,801, followed by Yorkshire and the Humber with 33,590. Wales has the lowest burglary rates, and Cleveland Police report a 23% drop in residential burglaries over the past year.
