Southern China suspends ferry services as storm brings high winds and waves
Ferry services in parts of southern China have been suspended due to a major storm moving into the South China Sea. The storm has brought high winds and heavy waves to the coastal regions. The storm, previously known as Typhoon Man-yi, has been downgraded to a low-pressure area with maximum winds of 40 kilometers per hour. It caused seven deaths in the Philippines before moving toward China. Climatologists note that rising sea temperatures are leading to more frequent storms and extending the typhoon season. Improved preparedness in affected Asia Pacific nations has helped reduce severe impacts.
