Southwest Airlines announces new Austin to San Francisco route and Florida flights

Southwest Airlines will launch a new non-stop route from Austin to San Francisco starting August 5, 2025. This route was last operated in 2019. The airline will also add four intra-Florida flights from Orlando during the same month. The new Florida routes include twice-daily flights to Fort Myers, Miami, Sarasota, and West Palm Beach. This expansion comes as Southwest experiences increased travel demand, prompting a revision of its Q4 revenue estimates. Austin Airport is seeing more flight options, with Delta Airlines also adding new routes. However, the airport faces a shortage of air traffic controllers, which may impact operations during busy travel periods.
