SpaceX launches Starship rocket from Texas without booster catch attempt
SpaceX launched another Starship rocket from Texas on Tuesday but did not attempt to catch the booster with mechanical arms. Instead, the booster was directed to splash down in the Gulf of Mexico after four minutes of flight. The launch marked the sixth test of the Starship, which aims to support future missions to the moon and Mars. The spacecraft successfully ignited an engine in space and completed thermal protection experiments during its hour-long flight, ending with a controlled splashdown in the Indian Ocean. SpaceX plans to improve the Starship for future tests, with the goal of reusing the entire rocket to reduce costs for space missions. NASA is funding SpaceX with over $4 billion for upcoming moon landing missions.
