SpaceX has shared a video showing how it produces Starlink satellite internet kits at a factory near Austin, Texas. The video highlights the assembly line process, where machines create components for the kits. Each week, SpaceX launches new satellites to expand its Starlink internet service. To connect to the satellites, users need these kits, which allow internet access from anywhere with a clear view of the sky. In the video, John Federspiel, a senior director at SpaceX, explains that the factory manufactures 15,000 kits daily. The factory is less than two years old and has quickly increased its output to over 70,000 kits each week with over 1,000 employees. The facility is located in the Bastrop community, about 30 miles from Austin. SpaceX plans to expand production by adding over a million square feet of manufacturing space this year. Alexandra Noe, another senior director, notes that this will help insource more production processes. The expansion comes as demand for Starlink internet continues to grow, with the previous production line reaching its maximum capacity. Since launching in 2015, Starlink now has over 7,000 satellites in orbit, serving more than five million users.
