SpaceX Starship prototype fails shortly after launch from Texas
SpaceX's Starship prototype launched from Boca Chica, Texas, on January 16, 2025, but failed shortly after separating from its Super Heavy booster. This version of Starship was upgraded and taller than previous models. The Super Heavy booster successfully returned to the launchpad, marking its second successful landing out of three attempts. The booster slowed its descent by reigniting its engines before landing on mechanical arms. The Starship was set to deploy mock satellites during the mission, but the failure occurred before this could happen.
