SpaceX surpasses Tesla as Musk's most valuable asset
Elon Musk's most valuable investment has shifted from Tesla to SpaceX for the first time in five years. This change comes as Tesla's stock continues to decline, causing its value to drop significantly. According to reports, Musk's 42% stake in SpaceX is now worth $147 billion. In contrast, his 12% stake in Tesla is valued at $97.8 billion. Tesla has seen a decrease in revenues and sales, while SpaceX has experienced strong growth. SpaceX's revenue rose by 51% to $13.1 billion, largely due to its Starlink satellite internet service. This subsidiary nearly doubled its revenue to $8.2 billion, contributing to SpaceX's success. Despite Tesla's challenges, Musk remains optimistic about the future of the company. He recently expressed confidence in a post on X, saying, “It will be fine long-term.” However, Tesla's sales have slumped globally for the first time. Sales in Europe fell by 45%, and in China, they dropped by almost 50%. In the U.S., sales decreased by 5%. A recent survey revealed that 63% of American car buyers would not consider purchasing a Tesla. Musk has acknowledged the difficulties of managing multiple businesses. He mentioned the challenges in a Fox Business interview, emphasizing the strain of balancing his various roles. Despite these struggles, Musk's combined investments in Tesla and SpaceX comprise more than 80% of his estimated $329 billion fortune. He also has stakes in other ventures, contributing an additional $45 billion to his wealth. Analysts have commented on Musk's lack of focus on Tesla, suggesting it could impact his leadership as CEO.
