"The Teacher Who Promised the Sea," a Spanish drama about the Spanish Civil War, has achieved significant box office success in Italy and Australia. Released in Italy on September 19, it grossed €551,066 ($589,641) across 84 screens. In Australia, it has earned $436,744 since its July 26 release on 22 screens. The film, directed by Patricia Font, intertwines two stories from 2010 and the 1930s, focusing on a teacher's impact on his students. It has received positive reviews, particularly for Enric Auquer's performance as the teacher, Antoni Benaiges. Following its success in Spain, where it grossed €1.7 million ($1.9 million), the film is expanding to Romania, Russia, Austria, and Germany.
