William Hill Sportsbook has been fined $20,000 for accepting $25,000 in bets on college basketball, hockey, and boxing matches after they had already concluded. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement announced the fine last week. The violations occurred in 2022 and 2023, with 42 bets taken on 12 college basketball games after the results were known. William Hill voided most bets but had already paid out over $5,000 on six of them. Amelco, a sports betting technology company, was also fined $10,000 for allowing illegal bets, including one on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg becoming president. This follows previous fines for similar violations by other betting companies.
