St. Mary's School lockdown after trespasser incident
St. Mary’s Catholic School in Crown Point, Indiana, was placed on lockdown earlier this week after a man jumped a fence on the property. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 1:11 p.m. Crown Point Police were called to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a white male who had jumped the fence in an area often used for student pickup. The man did not approach the school itself, but school faculty noticed him and chased after him as he fled southeast from the school. Police later located and detained the 22-year-old man in the 400 block of S. East Street. He was taken into custody without any problems and was transported to Franciscan Medical Center for evaluation. Authorities confirmed that he did not possess a weapon, and there was no immediate threat to students or staff. Crown Point Police Chief Ryan Patrick praised the quick response from both police and school personnel. He emphasized that student and staff safety is the top priority. The case will be reviewed by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.
