Stanford researchers discover new weight loss hormone, BRP
Researchers at Stanford Medicine have discovered a new hormone, BRP, that may help with weight loss while causing less nausea than current GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy. This finding was published in the journal Nature. Using artificial intelligence, the team identified BRP from a group of prohormones. Tests on mice and miniature pigs showed that BRP significantly reduced appetite and weight without causing gastrointestinal side effects. While promising, further studies are needed to confirm BRP's safety and effectiveness in humans. The researchers have filed patents and are working on developing BRP for clinical use.
