Stanley Park Market in Liverpool reopens with 120 stalls
A lively market with 120 stalls has reopened in Anfield, Liverpool. The Stanley Park Market welcomed visitors on March 19, 2025. Ricky Tomlinson, a popular actor, helped kick off the event by cutting the ribbon. The market will run every week until December. Originally launched in July 2024, the market quickly gained popularity. It started with about 50 stalls but grew to offer a variety of products, from fresh produce to clothing. This week's market featured over 80 traders, significantly boosting the selection for shoppers. Catherine McNeill, a local council manager, expressed excitement about the market's reopening. She said it was a great success, with a packed parking lot and many traders. Anfield ward councillor Billy Marrat noted that the market would help revitalize the area, as few shops sell fresh foods nearby. Among the stalls, Greek Olive Oil Direct offered oils and spices. Trader Craig Draper noted that many people in Liverpool are interested in Greek products. Another vendor, Roy Fairclough, sold a wide range of books, and his best seller was a book about Liverpool's cinemas. Food options included Caribbean cuisine from Eat Up Gud. Owner Greg Falola shared that he started with a small setup 15 years ago and has since participated in multiple events. There were also homemade donuts, burgers, and a variety of drinks available. Linda Miller, who runs Mr. Fitzpatrick's cordial stall, sells 28 different flavors. She noted that even Ricky Tomlinson enjoyed trying one of her drinks. The market continues every Wednesday from 9 AM to 3 PM until mid-December, with hopes that it will keep growing as the community supports it.
