Star reveals unpleasant filming detail from "Adolescence."
Netflix's new crime drama, Adolescence, has captivated viewers since its launch. The show focuses on the struggles of the Miller family after their son Jamie is accused of murder. It stands out for being filmed in a single take and delves into complex social issues instead of a straightforward mystery. In a recent discussion about episode three, co-star Erin Doherty shared a surprising detail about a scene involving hot chocolate. Doherty and her fellow actor, Cooper, revealed that what looked like hot chocolate on screen was actually a substitute. This change was necessary because real hot chocolate would make the set too sticky, affecting the filming. Cooper described the experience as "minging," indicating he found it unpleasant. Doherty added that during one take, the drink spilled on the table, leading crew members to scramble quickly to clean it up before the camera returned. Both actors found the situation quite gross. Despite the behind-the-scenes challenges, Adolescence has received positive reviews, earning a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.4-star rating on IMDb. The show, which began streaming on March 13, has even caught the attention of political figures, with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer mentioning it while discussing experiences with his teenage children.
