Starlink launches $10 plan to attract inactive US users

pcmag.com

SpaceX has launched a new $10-per-month plan for existing Starlink users in the US. This offer is aimed at drawing back users who have stopped using their service. According to reports from social media, the plan provides a low-cost backup internet solution. However, there are limitations. The $10 plan restricts data usage to just 10GB per month. Once users exceed this limit, they will incur an additional charge of $2 for every extra GB they use. On a positive note, this plan is part of the Roam tier, which allows users to access satellite internet in different locations, including while traveling in a vehicle. This feature is designed for those who need internet service in more than one place. The $10 plan seems to be specifically targeted at customers who have previously deactivated their Starlink service. Current residential plans can cost $120 per month, making this new option significantly cheaper. SpaceX recently introduced a similar backup plan that costs $50 per month and offers 50GB of data. Additionally, there is a “residential lite” plan available for $80 per month in select areas where network capacity allows. All users must also purchase the satellite dish hardware, which costs $349, although some discounts are currently available.
