STAYC launches new single "S," embracing bold identity
STAYC is introducing a bold new image with their latest release, "S." The group is turning away from their earlier youthful image and focusing on self-expression and individuality. Their title track, "BEBE," draws inspiration from pop star Rihanna and aims to present the artists in a stronger light. Known for their upbeat melodies, STAYC is made up of six members: Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon, and J. The group debuted in 2020 under Highup Entertainment and quickly gained fame despite challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Their previous songs established them as young idols, but now they are ready to showcase their true selves. In a recent interview, Sieun explained that they want to break free from how others perceive them. They appeared confident in stylish black-and-white outfits, with Sumin emphasizing that meeting others' expectations is no longer their goal. Instead, they aim to demonstrate authenticity through music. The song "BEBE" embodies this change, featuring energetic dance beats and deep sounds. It encourages listeners to put themselves first and let go of outside opinions. Sumin noted that Rihanna's influence helped shape the song's captivating style. After their first full-length album, "Metamorphic," did not perform as expected, STAYC decided it was time for a transformation. Yoon shared that when she heard the demo for "BEBE," she felt confident they could make a change. Sumin added that they wanted a bold shift that would surprise their fans. With this release, STAYC is looking to a new chapter in their career. Isa expressed their desire to be seen as a stronger group while acknowledging that their primary focus is not on chart performance, but rather on self-discovery and connection with their audience.
