Steel Ministry Secretary to meet Andhra CM about VSP
The Secretary of the Steel Ministry will meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on March 31 to discuss the revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). This follows the release of ₹6,783 crore in central funds on January 30, 2025. The central government approved a total revival package of ₹11,440 crore for VSP. This includes equity funding and a loan conversion to preference shares. The government is also planning to allocate captive mines to support the plant's operations. The central government has requested the state to waive VSP's power and water bills for three years and manage security costs. The state is currently addressing these requests as part of efforts to improve VSP's performance.
