Steelers eye J.K. Dobbins as running back replacement
The Pittsburgh Steelers may be looking to add a new running back to their roster after losing Najee Harris in free agency. They have already signed Kenneth Gainwell to a one-year contract but might still want to bring in another player. General manager Omar Khan is expected to consider options, as the free agent market for running backs is limited. One potential target is J.K. Dobbins, who played for the Los Angeles Chargers last season. Dobbins had a strong year in 2024, rushing for 905 yards and scoring nine touchdowns in 13 games. He also caught 32 passes for 153 yards. However, he has had issues with injuries in the past and has never played a full season. Analysts suggest that signing Dobbins could be a good move for the Steelers, as he is projected to receive a two-year contract worth $7 million. This deal would include $4 million guaranteed and an annual salary of $3.5 million. With $44 million in cap space available, the Steelers could afford to pursue Dobbins to strengthen their running game alongside Jaylen Warren. Dobbins would bring skill and toughness to the Steelers’ offense, making him an appealing addition.
