Stephenville ISD names new stadium after former coach Art Briles

Stephenville ISD has named its new football stadium after Art Briles, a former coach at Stephenville High School and Baylor University. The announcement was made during the Yellow Jackets' final game at Tarleton Memorial Stadium. Briles coached at Stephenville from 1988 to 1999, leading the team to four state championships. He was later fired from Baylor in 2016 due to his handling of sexual assault allegations involving players. The new Art Briles Stadium is set to open in May 2024. The announcement coincided with the Yellow Jackets' 44-0 victory over Brownwood.
