Stolen penguin Stanley returned to its owners
A stolen glass fibre penguin named Stanley has returned to his owners after three months. The ornament was taken from Julia and Peter Giles' garden in Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, on December 14-15. The couple expressed their happiness upon Stanley's return. The police said a local resident recognized the penguin from news reports and found it in their garden in Stoke Mandeville. They contacted Thames Valley Police, who confirmed that Stanley was stolen. Officers learned the penguin had been purchased at a car boot sale. The resident willingly let them take Stanley back to his rightful owners. The penguin, which stands 4 feet tall and has a damaged beak, was previously part of a display at Winter Wonderland in London. Julia Giles thanked the community for their support in finding Stanley. She noted that many people missed seeing him in their neighborhood. "It was nice to have a bit of good news," she said.
