"Stop Kiss" play explores love and hate themes
The Sea View Playwright's Theatre is presenting the play "Stop Kiss" this weekend and next. Written by Diana Son, the play explores themes of love, hope, and societal issues. "Stop Kiss" tells the story of two women, Callie and Sara, who fall in love in New York City. After sharing a kiss, they face a violent hate crime that changes their lives forever. The details of the attack are not shown on stage. The story is told in a non-linear format, jumping between their initial meetings and the aftermath of the attack. The play features a talented cast of Staten Island actors. Caroline Russell plays Callie, while Sophia Condon portrays Sara. Other cast members include Joey Caramanno as George and Frank Nigro as Detective Cole. Craig Stoebling, the director, has been involved in theater on Staten Island for over 40 years. He expressed gratitude to the Sea View Playwright's Theatre for presenting important stories like this one. "Stop Kiss" will be performed on March 22, 23, 28, and 29 at 8 p.m., with matinees on March 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. The performances will take place at 460 Brielle Ave in Sea View. Tickets can be bought online for $25 or $22 for students and seniors. They will also be available at the door for cash payments.
