Storm causes power outages and fatalities in northwest US
A powerful storm, classified as a "bomb cyclone," is impacting the northwest U.S., bringing strong winds and heavy rain. At least one person has died due to falling trees, and widespread power outages have affected over 450,000 homes. The storm has caused significant damage, with downed trees reported across Washington. Wind gusts reached 101 mph off Vancouver Island, while parts of Oregon and California experienced gusts up to 79 mph. Flood and high wind watches are in effect in northern California. Warnings for flash flooding and hazardous conditions have been issued, particularly in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sierra Nevada. A blizzard warning is also in place for the Cascades, with up to a foot of snow expected.
