Storm surge warning issued for Metro Manila and Luzon as Super Typhoon Pepito approaches
Metro Manila and parts of Luzon are under a storm surge warning due to Super Typhoon Pepito, which is expected to bring life-threatening flooding in the next 48 hours. The weather bureau has classified the risk as "high." The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported that Pepito is currently in the Philippine Sea, moving at 15 kilometers per hour. It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 255 kilometers per hour. Pagasa advises residents in affected areas to avoid coastal regions, cancel marine activities, and seek higher ground to stay safe from potential flooding and high waves.
