Stormwater drain cleanup starts in Vadodara after debate

Vadodara city has started cleaning a stormwater drain, following a disagreement between BJP Councillor Ashish Joshi and municipal commissioner Dilip Rana. The conflict arose during a meeting when Joshi expressed concerns over the choked drain in the Mahanagar area. On Tuesday, municipal workers began removing garbage from the drain and placed a motor there to pump out excess water. Joshi thanked the mayor for intervening and addressing the residents' demand for cleaning. Joshi claimed he had made multiple requests to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) over the past three months without any action. During the meeting, Rana responded to Joshi's complaints but became frustrated with his tone. Rana assured the public that the tender process for the cleanup is underway and expected the work to be completed within a month. He also mentioned plans for a new drain along the highway to prevent future issues.
