Stray dogs kill 17 goats in Erode region
In a tragic incident in Anthiyur, 17 goats were killed by stray dogs on Tuesday. Shanmugam and his wife Pappammal keep cows and 30 goats on their property in Chinnathambi Palayam. They had their livestock secured in a fenced area. Two days before the incident, one of the goats went missing. The couple thought it had wandered off. The next day, another goat also disappeared. On Tuesday morning, they were shocked to find all 17 goats dead. As news of the attack spread, many people gathered to see what had happened. Some thought wild animals might be responsible. Village Administrative Officer Manikandan and local police inspected the site. Forest officials also looked around but initially did not find any signs of wild animals. Upon closer inspection, they discovered dog paw prints inside the enclosure. This confirmed that stray dogs were the culprits. The couple has now asked the government for compensation for their lost livestock.
