Student self-deports after visa revoked for protest
Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian student at Columbia University, has self-deported after her visa was revoked by the Trump administration. The State Department cited her participation in pro-Palestinian protests as the reason for the visa revocation. Federal authorities accused Srinivasan of supporting Hamas, a designated terrorist organization. The administration has also pressured Columbia University by canceling $400 million in federal grants due to its handling of protests against Israel. Srinivasan used the new CBP Home app to facilitate her self-deportation. The app allows undocumented immigrants to declare their intent to leave the U.S. without facing immediate detention.
