Students at Franklin Regional adopt Holstein calf Milkyway
Franklin Regional Intermediate School has adopted a Holstein calf named Milkyway as part of the Discover Dairy program. This initiative helps fifth-grade students learn about dairy farming while integrating subjects like math, science, reading, and social studies. Students engage in various activities, including writing letters to the farmer and taking virtual field trips. They also participate in an art contest focused on the journey of food from farms to grocery stores. Discover Dairy is a yearlong program that connects students with agriculture. It complements other educational initiatives in the district, such as hydroponic gardening and the Trout in the Classroom program, emphasizing the importance of understanding food sources.
