Students in Dindigul advised to choose careers thoughtfully

Students in Dindigul were encouraged to choose their career paths thoughtfully during a recent event. Collector S Saravanan spoke at a career guidance program organized by The Hindu and Shankar IAS Academy. He highlighted that there are many opportunities available for students. Saravanan shared his own experiences, explaining why he chose public service. He emphasized the satisfaction he feels in helping others as a Collector. Before entering civil services, he worked as a Systems Engineer for the Tata group. Saravanan advised students, particularly first-years, to stay open-minded about their futures. He encouraged them to explore different roles in civil service, not just IAS or IPS positions. He also noted the importance of women's participation in the workforce, stating that gender equality has improved in Tamil Nadu. Shankar IAS Academy Branch Head Arjun Nathan also spoke with students about civil service opportunities. The event was attended by Principal N. Sampath Kumar and The Hindu Manager S Narayanan.
